Jacob Arcadelt (c.1500 - 14 October 1568) was a French composer, of the early part of the Golden Age. He left the position at Florence to teach the choristers of Rome and became one of the papal singers in 1540. He was the prolific church composer, however his works come largely madrigals, five books of which, of promulgated within Venice, probably gave a great stimulus to a the Venetian school of composition. Within 1555 he entered a service of Cardinal Charles of Lorraine, the Duke of Guise, and when this published trio volumes of people.
